Publish Your Dataset on the Sage Research Methods Digital Platform

The editorial team for Sage Research Methods, Sage’s award-winning digital platform, invites proposals for its Datasets format. The successful submissions will be featured in the upcoming Inclusive Research Methodologies collection, launching in 2026.

What’s Involved

We invite contributors to submit:

  • A sample research dataset which can be published on the Sage Research Methods website

  • A step-by-step teaching guide (up to 5,000 words) that helps students learn and practise data analysis or management techniques

Qualitative Dataset Example

Quantitative Dataset Example

 For the Inclusive Research Methodologies resource, our Datasets will focus on inclusive approaches to working with data, such as:

  • Managing and preparing sensitive data

  • Co-analysis with participants

  • Creative or adaptive methods for working with underrepresented groups

 Examples might include:

  • A quantitative dataset and guide on disaggregated statistical analysis

  • A qualitative dataset and guide on intersectional thematic analysis

Publishing with SRM

  • SRM is a peer-reviewed, award-winning digital platform used by universities worldwide

  • This resource will be subscribed to university libraries worldwide; it will have a global reach

  • Datasets are short, practical teaching articles using real data excerpts to demonstrate techniques

  • Contributions are original works, even when using existing or previously published data

  • No publication fee; upon acceptance at peer review, contributors receive honorariums of circa £200

  • Includes two years’ access to the new resource

  • Co-authorship is welcome

  • Submission dates are available through until Autumn 2025

Please email Elsie Elder (elsie.elder@sagepub.co.uk) to indicate your interest. Include “IRM Dataset Proposal” in the subject line, and the following information:

  • Preliminary Title

  • Sample Dataset Description (this should include confirmation of its availability to publish)

  • Analysis/Technique/Process

  • Software (if applicable)

  • Preferred Submission Date
