New on Sage Research Methods: Supporting more inclusive research practice
Guest post by Noa Vazquez Barreiro, Group Marketing Manager, Sage Publications
As research methods continue to evolve, one thing is clear: researchers and students need practical support they can trust to conduct research responsibly.
This month, Sage Research Methods expands its collection with two closely timed launches, each addressing a different but equally important aspect of the research process:
Sage Research Methods: Inclusive Research Methodologies, a new collection focused on designing and conducting research with underrepresented populations and sensitive topics – just published
Sage Research Methods Video: Doing Survey Research, a new video collection supporting learners through every stage of one of the most widely used research methods - coming soon!
Together, these collections strengthen SRM’s support for ethical, rigorous, and applied research practice- from foundational methods teaching to real-world research challenges.
Inclusive Research Methodologies: from principles to practice
Inclusive research is often discussed as an ethical ideal, but many researchers struggle with the practical “how”: how to design studies that meaningfully include underrepresented groups; how to work responsibly on sensitive topics; and how to make sound methodological decisions when ethics, risk, and responsibility intersect.
The new Inclusive Research Methodologies collection was developed to address that gap. Curated by subject experts, it brings together guides, real-world cases, video content, and applied materials to support researchers at different stages of the research journey.
The collection focuses on three core themes:
Foundations of inclusive research, including ethical frameworks and methodological considerations
Building equitable research relationships, with attention to power, trust, and collaboration
Designing and delivering inclusive research, grounded in practical decision-making and lived research experience
Rather than prescribing a single approach, the collection encourages reflective practice—helping users make informed, context-sensitive choices that improve both the quality andintegrity of their research
