Gary King makes all lectures for Quantitative Social Science Methods course free online
What is the field of statistical analysis? So begins Gary King’s first online course in the Harvard Government Dept graduate methods sequence, an overview and a great place to begin if you’re just starting out. King, the Albert J. Weatherhead III University Professor at Harvard University -- one of 25 with Harvard's most distinguished faculty title — and Director of the Institute for Quantitative Social Science has just recorded all his lectures for this course and made them free to access online. The videos range in length from 30 minutes to an hour and a half and you can watch them all on YouTube here.
Professor King’s Harvard students will not be watching on YouTube though. They will be using the free platform Perusall, that King co-founded with Brian Lukoff, Eric Mazur and Kelly Miller. King announced today that you can also watch annotate and interact with these videos on Perusall too. Head to Perusall, create your own course, and then use code 6AFEYRZH4P to pull all 19 videos in the quantitative social science methods playlist across. King also supplied the prerequisites for the course on Twitter.
Prerequisites: one course in introductory stats at the undergrad level. you'll need some R, data analysis, and probability. the first lecture discusses these. good luck!
