Livestream Monday: Globalization Expert to Deliver 2017 Regius Lecture
Helen Milner, the B. C. Forbes Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Princeton University, will examine how globalization has developed over the past 30 years and discuss the sources of globalization and its political ramifications during the annual Regius lecture at Essex University on Monday. The lecture will be livestream below.Her talk, “The Politics of Globalization: The World Economy and Domestic Politics,” is presented in association with SAGE Publishing. Milner, who was president of the International Political Science Association from 2012-14, is the director of the Niehaus Center for Globalization and Governance at Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School. According to her website, she is currently working on issues related to globalization and development, such as the political economy of foreign aid, the "digital divide" and the global diffusion of the internet, and the relationship between globalization and democracy.Her work has implications for recent events including Brexit and the election of Donald Trump as US president.In 2013, the Essex Department of Government was awarded a prestigious Regius Professorship by the Queen in honor of the department’s 50 years of excellence in research and education. To celebrate this honor, the department’s annual Regius lecture invites a world-class scholar in political science to come to Essex to present their work to the university community.
