Teaching & Mentoring with Open Access SAGE Research Methods Journals
Pointing students or mentees to articles that describe or exemplify research methods is one of the responsibilities of methods faculty or dissertation/thesis supervisors. Open access journals are especially useful when you don't have access to the databases offered in a robust academic library. Here are some SAGE journals you can tap for readings, with a recent (2022) article from each. These journals are multidisciplinary, so include a wide range of perspectives. Can’t find an article that fits your project? There are many open-access articles in the subscription-based journals too. Go to https://journals.sagepub.com, use the advanced search option, and choose the option for open access content only. Big Data & Society (BD&S) is an Open Access peer-reviewed scholarly journal that publishes interdisciplinary work principally in the social sciences, humanities and computing and their intersections with the arts and natural sciences about broad implications of Big Data.
