Understanding Cultural Issues in Research Design: A Webinar Panel
The focus for SAGE Methodspace in March 2022 on researching sensitive topics encompassed a variety of topics, including studying vulnerable and underrepresented populations. When we cross cultures to collect data, whether across town, across the Internet, or across the world, we can encounter these and other matters that can either enhance or obstruct the inquiry. In this Methodspace webinar an experienced panel of researchers shared practical tips and key questions to consider when planning a cross-cultural study.
The panel:
Dr. Dr. Rebecca Y. Bayeck, Assistant professor in instructional Technology and Learning Sciences at Utah State University.
Dr. Spencer P. Greenhalgh is an assistant professor of Information Communication Technology in the University of Kentucky's School of Information Science.
Dr. Arceli Rosario is a professor and chair of the Education Department of the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies in the Philippines. She is the incumbent president of Asian Qualitative Research in Asia. She is a co-editor of The SAGE Handbook of Qualitative Research in the Asian Context with Safary Wa-Mbaleka. Note: Drs. Rosario and Wa-Mbaleka will be Methodspace Mentors in Residence for September 2022 with to help us develop understanding and skills needed to “Be inclusive, aware and culturally competent.”
Dr. Tutaleni I. Asino is Associate Professor in Educational Technology and Director of the Emerging Technology and Creativity Research Lab in School of Educational Foundations, Leadership and Aviation at the Oklahoma State University’s College of Education and Human Sciences.
