Transforming Indigenous / Non-Indigenous Research Partnerships: A Comic for Researchers

A Comic With a Message

Cover-734x1024.png

A cross-cultural group of researchers is developing a set of resources "to support Indigenous and non-indigenous researchers planning research collaborations to think about their methods, assumptions and behaviours."  Dr. Deborah McGregor, a panelist for the MethodSpace Live webinar, was one of the partners, together with Professor Rosalind Edwards, University of Southampton, UK, Professor Helen Moewaka Barnes, Massey University, New Zealand, and Dr. Tula Brannelly, Bournemouth University, UK. They collaborated with comic artist Olivia Hicks, University of Dundee, UK and Christine Garrington of researchpodcasts.co.uk.

The result is a comic that illustrates positive strategies research teams can use to create good working relationships. The graphic style is a friendly way to highlight the kinds of small things, like scheduling mix-ups, that can build into bigger problems-- or serve as a reminder to ask before acting on your expectations.

Visit the website to download the comic, and view a short video about the project. Visit the blog to find posts about the project and  presentations by the research team.
