Design decisions for online research tie in with technology choices

I recently had the opportunity to participate in a webinar with Dr. Stacy Penna, Customer Engagement and Enablement Director for Lumivero (previously QSR), and Leon Bourner, Director of Sales and Client Development for itracks. You can view the webinar below, and download the handout here.

The choices for the platform, app, or program for collecting and analyzing qualitative data are inextricably linked with overarching design decisions for the study. Researchers have encountered limitations when trying to collect data with commercial platforms that are not designed for research and often don’t allow for privacy and protection of the data. Given this constraint, it was interesting to discuss and demonstrate design decisions for online interviews and focus groups on itracks, a platform designed for qualitative research using a wide range of synchronous and asynchronous options. This kind of study often involves collecting and generating images or media, which can be analyzed directly using NVivo.

Whether you choose these tools or other options, this webinar can help you see what features fit the needs of qualitative researchers.
